What is Sannidhi?

is a Sanskrit word which has been adopted in all Indian languages. It is also a common girl´s name.  'Sannidhi' can be translated as closeness, hereby refering to a closeness to Divinity. So, it means abode of God, a place where the presence of Divinity is felt. So, it is used in connection with temples. In the Tamil language it is used to refer to the space from where the devotees can have a vision of the Deity in the sanctorum.

There is an abstract noun derived from the word as 'saannidhya' . It can be translated as holy/auspicious/divine presence. This word is used when sages, saints and holy persons are present, in reference.
